PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the handling of a copper oxide slurry by mixing water with fine copper oxide powder and a specified complexing agent so as to impart a specified viscosity. SOLUTION: The complexing agent acts effectively as a dispersant and is selected from the group comprising EDTA, tartaric acid, hydroxyethylethylenediaminetriacetic acid, nitrilotriacetic acid, 2- hydroxypropylethylenediamine, their alkali metallic salts, etc. It is preferably used so as to impart <=3 P viscosity to the resultant slurry. The diameter of the fine copper oxide powder is preferably 0.2-2.0μm. Since the viscosity of the slurry is reduced, handling such as conveyance by a pump is facilitated.
