<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent charged dust from adhering to an air conditioner itself or the peripheral wall by disposing the radiation electrode of an ion generator in an air supply passage or in the vicinity thereof and interlocking the operation of the ion generator with that of an air cleaner. SOLUTION: A negative ion generator is built in an air conditioner, a fin tube type heat exchanger 8 is disposed on the inside of suction ports 4, 7 and a cross-flow air supply fan 9 is disposed in the rear of the heat exchanger 8. An electrostatic dust collection unit 11 for cleaning the air comprises counter discharge electrodes and a discharge electrode between them and fixed to the upper space between the heat exchanger 8 and a front panel 3 in order to capture invisible dust in the air or the smoke of cigarette by means of the counter discharge electrodes after charging through the discharge electrode. Every time when negative ions are generated through operation of an ion generator, the dust collection unit 11 of air cleaner is operated to remove dust in the air.</p> |
