PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter for a hydraulic fluid capable of reliably passing a hydraulic fluid flowing in a container through a filtration medium. SOLUTION: This filter for a fluid (a hydraulic fluid) comprises a container 12 provided with a first and a second plastic cover members 14, 16 respectively having circumferential flanges and forming a chamber 18 of a container having an inlet and an outlet by being mutually bonded. A filtration medium 20 is installed in the chamber 18 of the container between the inlet and the outlet. The circumferential flange of the first member 14 is provided with a rib 52. The circumferential flange of the second member 16 is provided with a side groove 54 positioned on the opposite to the rib 52. The filtration medium 20 is pressurized between the rib 52 and the side groove 54 and an edge part 44 for forming a circumferential seal to prevent a fluid flowing through an inlet from passing by the filtration medium 20 is formed. A spike 56 projected from the rib 52 and extended to the side groove 54 penetrates the edge part 44 of the filtration medium 20 to fix the medium. One of the cover member 14 is provided with a welding rib 60 to be welded with the other cover member 16 by track friction vibration welding process for fixing the cover members 14, 16 together.
