NEW PROKARYOTIC POLYNUCLEOTIDE, POLYPEPTIDE AND ITS USE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new polynucleotide having high identity with a nucleic acid encoding an prokaryotic polypeptide containing a specific amino acid sequence, and usable in e.g. screening antibacterial compounds, treating and diagnosing infectious diseases involved in Staphylococcus bacteria. SOLUTION: This new isolated polynucleotide includes a polynucleotide having >=70% identity with a polynucleotide encoding a prokaryotic polypeptide containing an amino acid sequence of formula I, formula II or the like, and a polynucleotide having >=70% identity with a polynucleotide encoding the same mature polypeptide as that expressed by a gene containing in Staphylococcus aureus as a deposited strain and afforded with a polynucleotide sequence of formula I, formula II or the like by sequence determination. This new polynucloetide is obtained by probing the chromosome DNA library of Staphylococcus aureus WCUH 29 with a partial sequence-derived labeled oligonucleotide.
