PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent printing defects caused by bubbles mixed by a cleaning operation. SOLUTION: This ink jet recorder comprises a flushing control means 30, a cleaning control means 25 for sucking ink from recording heads 7, 8 by means of sucking pumps 14, 15 and for wiping the recording heads 7, 8 by means of a wiping blade and a flushing maintaining timer 31 that starts the counting of time period after the completion of the cleaning to count the time period required for extinguishing or reducing bubbles generated in the vicinity of a nozzle opening after the cleaning. The flushing control means 30 executes the flushing when the flushing maintaining timer 31 is in a count-up condition so that the bubbles generated by the cleaning are extinguished or reduced, thereby preventing the bubbles from being enlarged. |
