The slatted mattress base has the ends of two slats (1) held in an end piece (2). This is on two curved deformable levers (3,3') with two branches (3a,3b,3a',3b') which are articulated to each other. The two lower branches (3a,3a') have part of a toothed wheel (4,4') on their ends that fit together. A rigid stop (11) in the bed frame (10) and between the levers holds a spring (12) that rests on the end piece.
