The emergency candle lantern employs a candle as a light source, and comprises a lantern body, a hollow extending into the lantern body, candle mounting means arranged within the hollow, and light reflecting means within the hollow for directing the light external to the body. A handle is fixed to th e exterior surface of the body which allows the lantern to be held so that the hollow is arranged horizontally allowing the lantern to be used similarly to a flash light. A storage container for matches, candles, and a gelatinous petroleum heat source is fixed to the outside of the lantern.
