A mounting band, for use with a muffler, includes a continuous, arcuate strap that has first and second ends. The strap is positioned in extension peripherally around the muffler. The first and second ends of the strap are secured together at a seam to retain the strap as a continuous band around the muffler. A hanger is secured to a continuous portion of the strap at a location spaced from the seam.
