<p>An ultrasonic stroboscope (150) is used to inspect an objet (130) rotating at a first frequency to determine if the rotating object (130) has any defects. The ultrasonic stroboscope (150) includes a first acoustic transducer (124) spaced apart from the rotating object (130). The first transducer (124) is configured to radiate ultrasonic energy at the rotating object (130) as a second frequency. The second frequency is substantially related to a sub-harmonic of the first frequency so that the rotating object (130) appears acoustically substantially still. A second acoustic transducer (122) is used to sense a refelction of the ultrasonic energy from a defect in the rotating object (130). The second transducer (122) translates the sensed reflection into at least one reflection signal. A user interface (100) is coupled to the reflection signal.</p> |
