Large washers (1) and appropriate fixing elements (4) are used for fixing roofing (2, 3) to a substructure (6). Said washers (1) are configured with reinforcement elevations (8). An edge strip (11) which is bevelled in the direction from the bearing surface (9) to the top, forming a step-like shape, is provided on a segment of the edge area of the washer (1). Said edge strip (11) is aligned essentially in a parallel plane to the bearing surface (9). This creates improved support conditions for the roofing when force is exerted in the direction of arrow (7), said roofing being able to rest on the bent edge between the bearing surface (9) and a joining section (12) and also on the free border edge of the edge strip (11).
