Controlling pre-set layer thickness of markings applied to road or footpath by vehicle

The method involves continuously measuring the power of a marking liquid feed apparatus and the speed of the vehicle. The actual value of the layer thickness is calculated from the material flow and vehicle speed, and a registered value of the marking width. The actual value is compared in a closed loop with the set value for the layer thickness, and the marking liquid feed and/or the vehicle speed is varied accordingly. A control system is also claimed.
