PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tension correcting device capable of suppressing the fluctuation of a plate thickness on the outlet side of a rolling mill caused by the fluctuation of the tension generating by the eccentricity of a reel, a difference in level of the plate thickness of a reel grip part, etc. SOLUTION: By installing tension detectors 8 respectively between a rolling mill 1 and inlet side reel 3, and between the rolling mill 1 and outlet side reel 3, the tension of a material 4 between the rolling mill 1 and the inlet side reel 3, and between the rolling mill 1 and the outlet side reel 3, is detected. By installing distance detectors 6 close at the inlet side and the outlet side reels 3, the diameters of coils wound on the inlet side reel 3 and the outlet side reel 3, are detected. By discriminating the fluctuation of the tension appearing periodically according to the difference in level of the plate thickness from tension signals detected by the tension detectors 8 and the signals of the coil diameters detected by the distance detectors 6, a signal correcting the quantity of this fluctuation is operated by a tension correction value arithmetic unit 9. The output signal of the tension correction value arithmetic unit 9, that is, correcting signals reels are inputted to motor controllers 7, motors 5 for the input and the output side are controlled, and the fluctuation of the plate thickness on the outlet side of the rolling mill is corrected.
