<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain toner matrix particles for developing an electrostatic charge image ensuring clear satisfactory color reproducibility and color forming property by incorporating a finely divided treated pigment which imparts a specified specific surface area to pigment particles at the time of drying. SOLUTION: A mixture of C.I. Pigment Red 177 and at least one compd. represented by formula I is prepd as a pigment compsn. A mixture consisting essentially of the pigment compsn., a water-soluble inorg. salt and a water-soluble solvent is mechanically kneaded and then the water-soluble inorg. salt and the water-soluble solvent are washed off to obtain aq. paste of a finely divided treated pigment which imparts 50-150 m<2> /g specific surface area to pigment particles at the time of drying. The aq. paste is kneaded with a resin under heating, freed of the water and further kneaded with a bonding resin under heating. In the formula I, X is phthalimidomethyl which may have a substituent or a group represented by formula II or the like and (p) is an integer of 1-8. In the formula II, Y is a divalent bonding group such as -CH2 NH-, R<5> and R<6> are each H or the like and (m) is an integer of 0-6.</p> |
