The spindle coupling for the rotating spindle shaft (6.1) gives a selective drive of the bobbin carrier (12) and the yarn laying unit moving in and out of the protective pot (12.3), for the shed yarns taken from a bobbin creel. The coupling is between the twisting pot (10) and the bobbin carrier (12) or only at the twisting pot (10), to be moved between changing positions. The coupling has a coupling unit (21) keyed to the spindle shaft (6.1), to drive the bobbin carrier (12) in a variable direction, with a yarn channel (21.2) connected to a yarn guide channel (10.21). A laying head is over the spindle, with a laying tube to be moved in and out of the protective pot (12.3). A lifting rod (19) through the hollow spindle shaft (6.1) is keyed to the coupling (21). The coupling (21) has conical upper and lower surfaces, to act on matching shaped surfaces at the bobbin carrier (12) on one side and the bobbin pot (10) on the other side. The coupling and the twisting pot (10) have ratchet locks (23). The coupling (21) is pressed down by a spring (22). The coupling can be keyed to the sliding rod by a sliding bush with outer teeth to mesh with inner teeth at the pot (10), with the same axial length for both sets of teeth. On an axial sliding movement of the bush, the bush meshes either with the pot (10) or the bobbin carrier (12), or it gives a coupling action to both. The bobbin carrier (12) rotates on the base of the pot (10), with a magnet to be switched on and off to stop the rotation.
