PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject novel compound that shows good stability in the aqueous system and high stability in the solid state, thus is useful as a therapeutic and preventive pharmaceutical for hyperglycemia, hyperlipemia, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and some kinds of dietary troubles. SOLUTION: This novel compound is represented by formula I [R<1> is H, an alkyl, acryl or the like; A<1> is a substituent that exists, when desired, as H, an alkyl, an alkoxy or the like, or two substituents on the adjacent carbon atoms and incorporate with the bonding carbon atoms to form an aryl group; A<2> is a substituted benzene ring that may exist, when desired; M is a gegen ion], typically 5-[4-[2-(N-methyl-N-(2-pyridyl)amino)ethoxy]benzyl]tiazolidine-2,4- dionemaleate salt, is prepared by reaction of a compound represented by formula II with a source of counter ion M. |
