BIODEGRADABLE ALIPHATIC POLYESTER FOAM AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for stably producing a biodegradable aliphatic polyester foam having excellent properties by using a carbon dioxide gas as a blowing agent for a biodegradable aliphatic polyester. SOLUTION: A biodegradable aliphatic polyester foam is produced by a process comprising the steps of: injecting a carbon dioxide gas into a melt of a long-chain-branch-containing biodegradable aliphatic polyester having a melting point of 70-190 deg.C, increasing the pressure of the biodegradable aliphatic polyester containing the carbon dioxide gas, cooling the biodegradable aliphatic polyester containing the carbon dioxide gas, dissolving the carbon dioxide gas in the biodegradable aliphatic polyester by these steps and foaming the biodegradable aliphatic polyester containing the carbon dioxide by release into air.
