PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a developing method capable of obtaining an excellent copied image all the time without causing various problems related to development such as a white stripe, etc., obtaining a high-density and high-quality image all the time without depending on copying environment even in the case of adapting the method to a digital system, and further maintaining stable developing performance all the time even in the case of executing copying for a long time is executed, and being adapted to wide-ranging processing speed from a middle-speed machine to a high-speed machine. SOLUTION: In this developing method for developing a latent image on a latent image carrier D with toner by using a developing device having a developer carrier 2 for carrying and feeding the toner in a developing area where the carrier 2 is opposed to the carrier D; the circumferential speed of the carrier 2 is >=300 mm/s, and the toner has binding resin and a colorant and its weight average particle size is 4-9 μm.
