PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the wavelength multiplex transmissinon system at a low cost with high reliability where a fault of each connection is easily detected by a simple monitor circuit independently of power of a signal light. SOLUTION: The wavelength multiplex transmission system is provided with pluralities of optical transmitters 2-1-2-N that output lights of different wavelength, an optical multiplexer 3 that multiplexes signal lights outputted from a plurality of the optical transmitters 2-1-2-N, a plurality of dispersion compensation units 6-1-6-N that branch out the signal light multiplexed by the optical multiplexer 3 into plural signal lights having different wavelength, and an optical multiplexer 7 that multiplexes the signal lights branched by the plurality of dispersion compensation units 6-1-6-N. The system is also provided with a monitor circuit 8 that outputs a 1.3 μm band transmission path monitor signal light and the connection among the above components is monitored by using the 1.3 μm band transmission path monitor signal light outputted from the monitor circuit 8. |
