PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric control device for protecting electrical appliances such as an electric motor from an excessive current. SOLUTION: An electric control device 40 has a current control device 60 containing a current limiting switch structure 80 for limiting a current to an electric motor 42. This control device 60 concentrates magnetic field produced by a current which passes through a conductor in a current limiting switch structure 80 by a layered body 130 comprising plural thin plates 128. Each current limiting switch structure has movable contacts 98, 108 attached to movable arm 100, 110 movable in a slot of the layered body 130 of thin plates, and separators in first and second rows 196, 194 are arranged along with a passage of these contacts. A separator 200 for a short-circuiting circuit leads a current between the separators in the first and second rows 196, 194, and an excessive current bypasses a motor starter through a bypass circuit connected to a bypass separator 286 so as to protect a motor starter and the motor. |
