An ionization measurement chamber for a photoionization measuring unit consists of overlying layers joined gas-tightly to a far UV excitation source. The novelty is that at least two gas-tightly joined electrically nonconductive layers (1.1-1.3) with axial openings (3-5) which form an axial passageway (6) with two electrically unconnected electrode layers (7, 8), a gas feed channel (14) being provided in one layer or between two layers and having an opening (15) to the axial passageway (6) near the far UV excitation source.
