The lift (H) of the valve needle (VN) is initially specified with an excess. Fine adjustment of the lift takes place by carefully judged shrinkage of the axial length of the valve housing (VG) in the region between the valve seating (VS) and the stop surface (A). This is achieved by local heating and subsequent cooling of the valve housing. In the claimed valve its needle lift is adjusted according to the above method.
