PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect communication abnormality between non-volatile memory and a device main body correctly and in detail so as to improve usability by providing a communication abnormality detecting means detecting generation of abnormality in communication with the non-volatile memory loaded on a process cartridge and a means informing the outside of abnormality in the case of detecting the abnormality. SOLUTION: The main body main control device 102 of a laser beam printer 101 is connected to an external device 104 through an external interface 111, and to a cartridge memory part 103 through a cartridge memory interface 112. The communication abnormality detecting means 105 of the main body main control device 102 checks the communication abnormality between the main body main control device 102 and the cartridge memory part 103, by the analysis result of a communication data analysis means 110. When abnormality of communication is detected by checking the communication result, the communication data analysis means 110 outputs cartridge communication abnormality information to the external device 103 through an external apparatus communication means 107. |
