[Class 98 (ii)] Photographic material comprises a support carrying a photographic emulsion layer and an antistatic layer comprising a biguanide of the formula wherein R is an alkyl, aralkyl or acyl group of at least 7 carbon atoms and R 1 and R 2 are H or an alkyl group of not more than 4 carbon atoms, R 1 always being H when R is alkyl or aralkyl and R 2 always being H when R is acyl. Biguanides specified are octadecyl, dodecyl, benzyl, N-dodecyl-N<SP>1</SP>-methyl, lauroyl, octanoyl and N - lauroyl - N<SP>1</SP> - methyl biguanides. The biguanide may be incorporated in a substratum, overcoating or emulsion layer or in an antihalation or other layer applied to the rear of the support, and may be applied to either side of the exposed and processed film. The support may be of cellulose acetate, formate, propionate, butyrate, acetate - propionate, acetate -butyrate, or nitrate, polyvinyl chloride, vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate interpolymer, vinyl chloride-vinylidene chloride interpolymer, a polyamide, or a superpolymer.
