PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbonylation method for an ethylene- or acetylene-based hydrocarbon which is capable of suppressing metallization of a metal complex occurring during the carbonylation is the presence of a catalytic system containing a group VIII metal complex. SOLUTION: This carbonylation method for an ethylene- or acetylene-based hydrocarbon includes a process to react, in the presence of a catalytic system comprising (1) a supply source of a group VIII metal atom or its ion, (2) a ligand selected from organophosphorus compounds, organoarsenic compounds and organoantimony compounds and (3) a Br oe nsted acid, (a) an ethylene- or acetylene-based hydrocarbon compound having one or more unsaturated bonds between carbons, with (b) carbon monoxide and (c) at least one uncleophilic compound selected from the group consisting of water, alcohols and carboxylic acids, wherein 0.1-5 mol of a bidentate diphosphine of the formula R<1> R<2> -P-R-P-R<3> R<4> [R<1> ,R<2> ,R<3> and R<4> are each a (substituted) aryl group; R is bivalent hydrocarbon-based organic group] is added to 1 mol of the above mentioned supply source. |
