PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To omit an area code for the input of a telephone number to be compared with a caller number by comparing the caller number detected from a caller number detection circuit with a stored registration number from the lowest digit of numerals and judging that the caller number is matched with the registered number when whole numbers are matched. SOLUTION: When a control circuit 23 detects a caller number form a caller number detection circuit 12, the caller number and the date/time of an incoming call are stored in RAM 25, so as to be compared with all the telephone numbers in a telephone book stored in RAM 25. This comparison method is to sequentially compare a number with numerals except for hyphens in the telephone numbers of the telephone book from the lowest digit. When all the numerals of the telephone number in the telephone book are matched, the caller number and the telephone number of the telephone book are judged to be matched. Namely, the caller number and the telephone number of the telephone book are considered to be identical when the number is matched with the telephone number of the telephone book even if the number of the digits of the telephone number in the telephone book is smaller than the caller number. Even if an area code is omitted, the number can be compared with the caller number.
