PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record a picture by selecting one of plural picture quality modes by converting picture signals into a luminance signal and two color difference signals so as to reproduce the picture by an optional reproducing device from a recording medium even though an electronic camera is different. SOLUTION: R, G and B digital signals outputted in parallel from an A/D converter 28 are converted into the luminance signal Y1 and the color difference signals CR1 and CB1 by a signal processing circuit 311 and the two kind of signals CR1 and CB1 with the sampling number halved are inputted to a reduction filter 312 . At the time of selecting a mode A, the signals Y1 , CR1 and CB1 outputted from the signal processing circuit 311 are selected by a switch 315 and stored in a memory card 15 directly through a buffer memory 316 . Signals Y2 , CR2 and CB2 from a sampling circuit 313 at the time of selecting a mode B, signals Y3 , CR3 and CB3 compressed and expressed by four bits/one sample at the time of selecting a mode C and signals Y3 , CR3 and CB3 compressed and expressed by two bits/one sample at the time of selecting a mode D are selected by a switch 315 . |
