PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the efficient production of a copolymer latex with excellent polymerization stability by inhibiting the occurrence of fine coagulation particles. SOLUTION: This composition is prepared by emulsion polymerization of a monomer mixture of 10-80 wt.% of an aliphatic conjugated diene monomer, 0.5-10 wt.% of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer and 10-89.5 wt.% of other copolymerizable monomers in the presence of a cyclic unsaturated hydrocarbon bearing one unsaturated bond in the ring. The composition comprising the resultant copolymer latex and pigments is useful as a paper-coating composition and shows excellent adhesion, blister resistance, and smell. This composition gives excellent adhesion strength and resistance to water as a adhesive composition for carpets, rock fibers and the like. |
