The method involves transmitting command signals from the data communications controller to a radio controller device in at least one remote radio unit to modify the hop table of the radio controller device in the at least one remote radio unit. This is performed to make the hop table of the radio controller device in the at least one remote radio unit identical to the hop table of the data communications controller. The method also entails transmitting a start hop clock command signal from the data communications controller to the radio controller device of the at least one remote radio unit. That results in making the radio controller device in the at least one remote radio unit set the carrier frequency of the radio controller device to that of a designated hop table entry.
