In a packaging machine through which products (4) are advanced singly and in succession along a wrapping line (24) together with a heat-sealable wrapping film, the film (3) is folded around each product (4) to form a wrapper (5) of tubular appearance with two joined longitudinal edges (2), whereupon the temperature of the edges (2) is raised by electromagnetic induction to soften the material in readiness for heat-sealing; the pressure required to fuse the joined and heated edges together is applied evenly from either side.
