A gas nozzle for a gas assisted injection molding system includes a body having an inlet in fluid communication with a source of pressurized gas, an outlet through which gas leaves the nozzle and a passage extending between the inlet and the outlet. The outlet includes a plurality of apertures wherein at least some of the plurality of apertures have a rectangular shape arranged such that the longitudinal axis of consecutive rectangular shaped apertures are parallel to one another and such that the flow path through the outlet approximates a +E,fra 1/8+EE inch hole but does not clog with resin over successive plastic injections into the mold.
