The invention relates to an automatic, multi-speed stepped gearbox with a plurality of forward gears and at least one reverse. The gearbox is releasably connected to a drive device, especially an internal combustion engine, via a clutch which cuts off the load during gear-changing. A drive shaft is connected to the clutch. The gearbox also has an output shaft, at least one countershaft, pinions rotationally fixed to said shafts and loose pinions fitted free in rotation on said shafts. There are also shifting components by means of which said loose pinions can be connected to said shafts to transmit torque. All the shifting components (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, R) can be mutually independently switched in such a way that the loose and fixed pinions, which are fitted together on at least one of said shaft, rotate on the shared shaft at different revolution speeds. The loose and fixed pinions rotating at different speeds on the common shaft are thus involved together by the corresponding shifting components actuated in the torque transmission, in the corresponding gear. |
