The bait consists of an insecticide, as active principle, citric acid, pectin, agar-agar, peach pulp, banana pulp, sunflower oil, "gofio" (maize meal and wheat which have been previously roasted and salt), sugar and honey. The composition has the following properties: - it is highly attractive to insects such as cockroaches and the like, and rodents. This appears to be due to the fructose content, which turns out to be more attractive to insects than other sugars, and to the fruit aromas and the "gofio". - It retains its properties over long periods of time without the addition of preservatives to the mixture, remaining highly effective. - It is highly effective in destroying pests and, according to a study, achieves 100% with boric acid as active principle. - It has the consistency of a paste. - It does not cause any undesirable environmental side effects.
