The application of colour involves the use of mechanical/technical auxiliary devices and different colours are applied to produce a three-dimensional structure picture, achieving a realistic three-dimensional effect. On this structure of the putty mass different colours and pigments are applied, which at least partly mix with each other. The picture carrier (1) is treated with an undercoat (2). A background layer (3) is provided and a drawing or sketch (4) is formed, on which the putty mass (5) is directly applied. The colour layer (6) is applied to the putty mass and on top of it is a transparent or weakly coloured final coating (7).
