The invention concerns an amphibious cross-country vehicle in two independent parts (1, 2) articulated by means of a drawbar (1) pivoting at each of its ends on ball joints (4, 5) each integral with one of said vehicle parts and in their longitudinal axis. Said vehicle is specially designed for travelling over long distances in liquid element; each part (1, 2) having its own independent motoring means on land and in water; the rear of each of the vehicle two parts (1, 2) is provided with double propulsion with a faired propeller (16, 17) on the steering part and bowthrusters (18, 19) on the second part. Said propelling means are controlled from the front part operating as integrated pilot of the assembly on land and in water; all its wheels (8, 9) are drive and steering wheels, each driven in rotation by a hydraulic wheel motor powered by a hydraulic pump driven by the internal combustion engine of its own vehicle part, and steered from the piloting station, their deflection being controlled by pairs of side wheels. The draw bar pull on land of said vehicle second part (2) by the steering part is restricted to a strict minimum for easy steering by the front part; said relatively weak force required for easy steering, is adjustable according to terrain conditions by acting on the motoring means of said rear part relative to that of the front part. |
