摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a vehicle that is automatically steered or a vehicle group that travels in a vertical line smoothly travel at a joining point. SOLUTION: When a vehicle 7 travels on a traffic lane 2 that has a merging point 4 ahead in a traveling direction, the existence of the point 4 is detected by a signal from a road surface device 6 such as a beacon. The vehicle 7 changes lanes from a slow lane 2 to a passing lane 3, e.g. at 400 meters on this side of the point 4. Thus, because the lane 2 that is a merging side lane before and behind the point 4 is made empty even if a vehicle that is about to merge the point 4 form an approach ramp 5 exists, it is possible for the merging vehicle to merge safely and also smoothly.
