PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the distortion of an amplifier and to miniaturize the amplifier by constituting a characteristic improvement circuit for improving the linearity of the input/output characteristic of a nonlinear amplifying element only through a passive element. SOLUTION: The nonlinear element 1 grounds the source electrode S and connects a matching circuit 2 to a gate electrode G and a matching circuit 4 to a drain electrode D. When the resistance value of a resistor 6 is in the range of 0.1-10Ωin a series circuit 10, a reflection characteristic and a reflection angle become almost constant. When the capacitance value of a capacitor 5 is changed, although a pass phase can be changed a load characteristic with the matching circuit 2 is changed by the value of the capacitor 5. Thus, the matching circuit 2 is changed and matching is executed. Thus, the series circuit 10 constituted of the capacitor 5, the resistor 6 and an inductor 7 is provided for the circuit of an input side and respective values and selected arbitrarily. Consequently, the phase characteristic can be changed (improved), while a matching characteristic is maintained. Thus, the distortion characteristic of the amplifier can be changed.
