PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the scanning optical device which is not affected by internal heat generation and external heat by suppressing variation in performance with the temperature of an optical element arranged in a storage container. SOLUTION: The scanning optical device has an image formation optical system put in a 1st storage chamber 4 of the storage container 1 and a polygon scanner 6 in a 2nd storage chamber 5. Then The shutter plate 7 of a partition wall 2 is held open until the image forming element (optical element) of the image formation optical system reaches specific temperature and when the temperature of the imaging element is raised with the heat in the 2nd storage chamber 5 until the imaging element reaches the specific temperature, the shutter plate 5 is closed to cut off the high heat from the 2nd storage chamber 5 thereafter. Consequently, the temperature variation of the optical element can be made small to stability the optical performance, thus obtaining an excellent scanning optical system. |
