<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an audio encoding/decoding device, with which audio quality which is higher than the quality provided by a DVD video standard can be provided. SOLUTION: This audio encoding device encodes an entire audio signal, while dividing it into both a basic region and an expanded region. An input separator 21 divides a digital audio signal into a first audio signal belonging to the basic area and a second audio signal belonging to the expanded region. A non-loss encoder 23 makes the first audio signal into non-loss code and outputs a first bit stream and a first bit rate generated from the result. An acoustic mental encoder 25 makes the second audio signal into acoustic mental code and outputs a second bit stream and a second bit rate generated from the result. This encoding device performs encoding, so that the sum of the second bit stream and the first bit rate can be always coincident with the set bit rate. A decoding device makes a bit stream into non-loss decoding and performs acoustic psychological decoding.</p> |
