PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve many problems brought about in an ESI(electric spray ionization) for a liquid of a high flow rate, a surface tension and a conductivity, by utilizing an automatic balance characteristic of a flow passing a core and driven by a capillary phenomenon. SOLUTION: A primary flow of a sample liquid enters from an arm part 11 of a T tube 12 and wets one end of a core 14. The core 14 extends from the interior of the T tube 12 by a required length through a plug seal 15 at an end part. The plug seal 15 prevents convection of the sample liquid, bringing about a capillary-driven flow of the sample liquid towards a leading end of the core 14. A leading end of the plug seal is present in the vicinity of an entrance of a capillary which passes a gas including ions from a spray chamber to a vacuum system where a mass analyzer is set. When a suitable potential difference is applied between the core 14 and entrance of the capillary, the sample liquid forms a tailor cone 17 at the leading end of the core 14. A peak of a mass spectrum obtained from the sample liquid sprayed from the core with a low flow rate is higher than when the same solution is sprayed from a conventional jet needle with a higher flow rate.
