PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce building cost and size of a cooling tower for preventing generation of a white fuming. SOLUTION: In the cooling tower, warm waters 7 are sprinkled from a plurality of sprinkling ports 6 opened at a lower surface of a warm water tank 5 to fillers 12 directly under the tank 5, an atmosphere is brought into direct contact with the waters 7 flowing on surfaces of the fillers 12 to cool the waters 7. In this case, the fillers 12 are alternately always disposed distinctly in a constant wet region 17 and a wet and dry switching region 18 for isolating an atmosphere flowing space 16. Sprinkling tubes 19 exclusive use for the region 18 are provided at a lower surface of the tank 5 to separately sprinkle the region 18 from the region 17. And, the tank 5 is supported by the tubes 19, and the ports 6 of the tank 5 always communicate only with the region 17.
