PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a code word belonging to a Reed-Solomon code on a Galois body by solving an equation showing a regulation that a redundant symbol exists in a first alphabet. SOLUTION: A central processing unit 106, a random access memory(RAM) 104, a read-only-memory(ROM) 105 and an input port 103 for receiving information which an encoding/transmitting device transmits in an octet system are provided. The input port 103 inputs a main symbol belonging to the first alphabet. The RAM 104, the ROM 105 and the central processing unit 106, which are processing means, decide the redundant symbol for decoding the code word formed from the main symbol and the redundant symbol by a decoder operating on a second alphabet and solve the equation showing the regulation that the redundant symbol exists in the first alphabet. An output port 107 outputs the symbol of the code word. |
