PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain stable and sure recording and reproducing characteristics and a long-term preservable property by incorporating a tetraazaporphyrin compd. having a specific relation with a substd. or unsubstd. satd. hydrocarbon ring cooperatively with an oxygen atom or halogen atom into a recording layer for recording information by the reflectivity change of recording light with which the recording layer is irradiated. SOLUTION: The org. recording layer formed by successively laminating the org. recording layer, a reflection layer and a protective layer on a transparent substrate is irradiated with the recording light, by which the reflectivity change is induced and the information is recorded thereon. This org. recording layer contains the tetraazaporphyrin compd. expressed by general formula (formula 1). In the formula, M denotes bivalent to quadrivalent metal atoms which may have the oxygen atom or halogen atom; R1 and R2 cooperatively form the substd. or unsubstd. hydrocarbon ring. The tetraazaporphyrin compd. is a cyclohexenotetraazaporphyrin compd. As a result, electrical characteristics are improved and the application to the high-density optical recording media of the next generation is made possible as well.
