PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a drive circuit, increase torque, and reduce the stepping angle. SOLUTION: A stepping motor is composed of a rotor 1 formed of a cylindrical permanent magnet with north poles and south poles alternately magnetized on its circumferential surface, a stator core having teeth opposed to the north poles and the south poles of the rotor 1 with a certain gap in between, and three stator coils 4 wound inside the stator core. The stator is laminated in three stacks with the same pitch. Letting the magnetizing pitch of the permanent magnet be P, the rotor is so formed that the magnetic pole of the second rotor is shifted from that of the first rotor by an angle of 2P/3, and the magnetic pole of the third rotor is similarly shifted from the magnetic pole of the second rotor by an angle of 2P/3. When the stator coils 4 are connected to at three terminals and two or three are simultaneously bipolar-driven by a drive circuit comprising six transistors, the number of leads and that of transistors used can be reduced. |
