PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve precision of a KANA/KANJI conversion. SOLUTION: This device has a conversion dictionary 51 for storing a KANJI and a KANA by relating them to a reading, a means 5 for retrieving from the conversion dictionary a KANJI and/or KANA corresponding to readings of all the characters and partial character string which compose a specified character string of a conversion object, a means 7 for composing a candidate character string group becoming the same reading as the specified character string by combining the retrieved KANJI and/or KANA, a connection table 42 for respectively storing for each character string a connection possibility for a character string consisting of KANJI/KANA to be connected in that arrangement, a means 41 for respectively performing an operation to calculate the connection possibility of the candidate character string with regard to each candidate character string on the basis of the connection possibility of each partial character string consisting the candidate character string, and a means 62 for outputting the character string in order of connection possibility. |
