PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a reference light source used for wavelength multiplexing communications or light wavelength communications to be stabilized by a method, wherein integral components such as a laser diode, a second harmonic generating device, a rubidium absorption cell, and a phase-locked circuit and attachments are modularized to operate. SOLUTION: A laser diode module 10 outputs laser rays of a wavelength of 1.56μm, corresponding to a current outputted from a current source which is operated under the control of a servo module 40. The laser rays are collected to the one end of an optical fiber 70 at an output lens port and made to impinge on the input lens port of a second harmonic generating module (SHG). A reference light of wavelength 1.56μm and a second harmonic light of wavelength 0.78μm are generated. The second harmonic light separated by a separating means is made to impinge on an absorption cell 30 through the intermediary of an output lens port and an optical fiber 80. A rotation adjustment mechanism provided to the input lens port of the SHG module is so controlled as to make an output light maximum. Consequently, the wavelength of the second harmonic light is synchronized and controlled, so as to be equal to the wavelength 0.78μm of a rubidium absorption cell.
