PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a controllable sensitization range by properly selecting first and second blue sensitive dyes by forming one silver halide emulsion layer containing silver halide to be sensitized the first blue sensitizing dye and the second blue sensitizing dye each having a specified maximum absorption wavelength and separating each maximum absorption wavelength, by a specified energy gap. SOLUTION: The photographic element is provided with one silver halide emulsion layer containing the silver halide which is sensitized by using the first blue sensitive dye having the maximum absorption wavelengthλ1 <=475 nm and the second blue sensitive dye having the maximum absorption wavelengthλ2 (both dyes contain no selenium).λ1 is longer thanλ2 andλ1 andλ2 are separated by an energy gapΔE<=0.12 eV andΔE is defined by the formula in whichλ1 is the maximum absorption wavelength (nm) sensitized with the first sensitizing dye andλ2 is the maximum absorption wavelength (nm) sensitized with the second sensitizing dye.
