PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a memory storing user data from being updated resulting from input of succeeding code data to the MPEG decoder before a CPU completes extraction of the user data at extraction of the user data parts set in video coding data by the CPU. SOLUTION: The MPEG decoder has a memory and an audio/video data separator section 3 that receives compressed coding data in compliance with the MPEG standards and extracts respectively audio code data and video code data from the received coding data. The separator section 3 has a start code detection section 11 and registers 12, 13, extracts user data from the coding data, stores a write address of a head byte of the user data with respect to a memory interface 4 to the registers 12, 13 and provides an output of a user data detection signal. |
