<p>A combined, integral steam generator coal gasifier includes a vertically elongated, all welded, gas tight enclosure (14) with a burner zone (16) having a double pitch sloping furnace floor (18) and a slag tap (20) extending therethrough. The slag tap (20) located at the bottom of the burner zone (16) communicates with a slag tank (36) or a submerge drag chain conveyor (38) for receiving and removing slag from the burner zone (16). Successive zones (24, 26, 28) located above the burner zone (16) are provided with appropriate tube materials for conveying synthesis gas produced by the coal gasification process. A multi-pass convection pass zone (28) having upflow (44) and downflow passes (46) is located at an upper portion of the enclosure (28). An ash remover (58) is connected to the outlet (40) of the convection pass zone (28) to remove ash from the synthesis gas exciting from the convection pass zone (28).</p> |
