The roof (1) includes a cover (3), which covers a roof opening (5) in a closed position. The cover can be pushed up by its rear edge into at least a ventilating position. The cover can be raised relative to the closing position into at least an opening position. A device is provided for extending the cover and another device displaces it along at least one guide fixed to the roof. A support device (43) engages the rear edge area of the cover. When the cover is closed, the support device is level with the cover or lies beneath it. The support device is only effective with the movement of the cover. The support device is arranged vertically and beneath the cover, when it is closed. The support device is formed by a support lever, which is linked with one end to the rear of the cover. The other end is supported by at least one slide component in the guide.
