The invention relates to a plant granulate, a cultivation substrate and to a growth substrate making up said granulate. The invention also relates to a method for the production of the plant granulate. The inventive plant granulate comprises at least one substrate material containing a clay mineral which has open pores, is not burnt and is capable of reversible absorption of water, nutrients and growth promoters, in addition to at least one mineral bonding agent. The inventive plant granulate adsorbs a high level of nutrients and growth promoters which can be released into the environment over a long period of time, possibly amounting to several years. In order to identify the plant granulate, information carriers with a readable code can be incorporated in a fixed manner therein.
